Happy Birthday to my blog!! Today you turn two years old!

This week has been great for my blog! On Sunday I received my highest views ever on my blog, thanks to my blog post about the Jay Park concert. I received over 200 views from Korea alone and about 500 views all together in one day! And now it is my blogs birthday!

Thanks to the success of my Jay Park concert review, I am more determined to write more. Soooo, although I am not a K-Pop fan, I will be going to more K-Pop, K-Indie and K-HipHop shows. There are only a few shows in the UK, but the number of K-Pop concerts are increasing here, and I hope that K-Indie would become more popular or at the least, just have a few shows in London.

As today is my blogs birthday, I decided to read my first post and reflect on how much my blog has changed and grown.

Of course, visitors to the site have grown, but I believe my blog has kind of started to fit in to a target audience. I have always had an interest in Asian culture, but since I came back from Korea, it has been the main focus of my writing.

Having said that, my blog is still random and although I posting more about Korean related stuff, I will always have the random posts about other things.

I hope that my blog will become more successful in the future, and I think that will be more possible when I am in Korea. My goal is to receive more subscribers! Although I do get a lot of hits on here, I don’t have many subscribers (but to those of you who have subscribed, I love you the most!). With an increase of subscribers I believe my blog would be more interactive because I do want to talk with my blogs visitors and I want to write what you want me to write about. ~~So comment below already!!~~

Honestly, thank you all for reading my blog posts, If it wasn’t for you guys, I wouldn’t be so motivated to actually publish my blog posts. I hope this next year will be better than my last two and I hope my blog becomes more interesting for you.

As I am in Korea, I have been reading blogs about Seoul.

I am fed up of seeing posts about Korean guys only liking Korean girls and light girls. Or Korean people looking at black people funny and ignoring foreigners when they ask for help. This is not true.

I don’t know if people who are writing these blogs have actually been to Seoul, or any part of Korea for that matter, but I really think they haven’t. I’ve been here for one month and I have not suffered any racism, and this is what you are accusing them of when you say they ignore you or look at you funny.

I’ve had more problems in London than I have had in Seoul.

Everyone here is kind! Yes they may stare a little bit, but they are just curious! You can not assume that they are thinking the worst. I have an example:

I am here to study, so when I have a break I go to the shop located inside the university. The women who works in the shop always stared at me funny. I noticed but it didn’t bother me. After 2 weeks, she told my Korean friend that I am very beautiful.

Now tell me, if I had been rude or thought the worse about this lady, she would probably still think I’m pretty but she would not tell me. She wasn’t thinking anything bad!

Every shop I’ve been into, every person I’ve met, has been nothing but nice to me! I get a few stares, yes, but who cares?!?! People stare no matter where you go! I find myself looking at people for longer than two seconds too!

Also, I have had several dates since I have been here. I’ve had guys come up to me and tell me I am pretty. I am considered very dark in comparison to a Korean person.

We should not generalise people. It is like saying all Black guys like girls with big butts, or that all white guys like blondes.

Koreans are the most friendliest race I have met.

I knew that I would have fun in Korea, but I did not think that I would fall in love. You know when you get the feeling that something is right and you fit together perfectly, even though you have differences, such as skin colour and the language barrier? When you see something so beautiful and you have so much respect for it because all you are shown is respect, even though I am alien.

I don’t care about the people who stare and I barely notice them because I am in awe. There is that sudden moment when I am in bed and think ‘damn, this is actually happening’. I feel like we were meant to be and there is nothing that can get in the way.

You ask how I can be in love when I’ve only been in Korea for one week. Well, you fall in love when you least expect it. I know that it sounds like a fairy tale but love at first sight is the only way to describe it. I do not know if the love is returned but I will find out by being patient.

I am in love with Korea.

Seoul!

I arrived in Seoul, South Korea three nights ago!

For those of you who don’t know, I am here in Korea to study for a month at Hanyang University Summer School.

I don’t know how to express how excited I am to be here!

As soon as I got off the plane, I noticed how behind London is on technology. Incheon airport is stunning! It is futuristic looking but in a warm way.

They have the best hospitality. I saw a man standing at the door of the supermarket, just bowing at every person who walked in. The respect that Koreans have is amazing. I have not met one rude person yet.

The only criticism I have is that the guys here are too good looking… =P
And the girls are so pretty! They look like dolls!

The accommodation is lovely! I was supposed to have a room mate as there is two people per room, but I have a room all to myself! I like it! I was worried that I wouldn’t have time by myself, and that freaks me out, so I’m happy I have my own room.

Anyway, I will try to blog more during my trip. If there is anything that you guys want me to talk about in specific, please let me know.
