My top 5 songs at the moment.

I love music.

I don’t think I have gone a day without putting a playlist on. If I don’t listen to music, I feel like the world will end!

My morning starts with my alarm, which is always my favourite song at that moment. Then, I cuddle Aurora, head to the bathroom and put my playlist on before I jump in the shower. I can’t explain how much I love music! Just know that, every opportunity I get, I put music on.

So I thought I would give you an insight on the kind of music I am listening to at the moment! Please bare in mind that since I am living in Korea, all of these songs are Korean songs! Sorry…not sorry… hehe

Check out my list series, here.

Here are my top 5 songs at the moment.

  • Crush – Bittersweet (크러쉬 – 잊을만하면)

I have been a huge fan of Crush every since his first single. I love his voice. I love his music. I love his videos. I love him! This song has a really relaxed feel and I think it is a great summer song! I know it isn’t as upbeat as most summer songs, but I can imagine being on a beach at night and just listening to this. (If I had a boyfriend to go with that scenario, it would be even better!)

  • Cold – Your dog loves you Feat. Crush (콜드 – Your dog loves you Feat. 크러쉬)

This song is so chill! I must admit, I haven’t really listened to the lyrics and tried to understand everything Cold and Crush are saying, (I should probably go and check out the English lyrics) but when I hear this song, I just feel so relaxed.
Update:
I just checked the lyrics and oh my gosh. I love this song even more than I did before! Cold and Crush wrote this song from their dogs perspective. And as I was reading the lyrics and listening to the song, my eyes watered so much! I almost cried in a public place! Please check the lyrics for this song!

  • DPR Live – Text me

I stumbled upon this song while I had YouTube on in the background. It just started playing and I liked the sound of it so I went to check who it was. Instantly I notice that the video is filmed in London! So, I watched it again and I liked the song more!

  • Sik-K – Get that money (식케이 – 내일 모래)

This song, I also stumbled on when I had YouTube on in the background. I really like Sik-K. Again, I think the video enticed me. It is filmed in one shot and, it really made me feel dizzy the first time I watched it! But I liked how simple the video was. So I added it to my playlist and it is now part of my morning routine!

  •  OFFONOFF – Dance (오프온오프 – 춤)

I actually think that this song might be my favourite song, after ‘Your do loves you’. This song is also filmed in England…I’m not sure if it is London but it seems like it. More importantly, it is filmed in a kebab shop! But I love the song more than the video. It is romantic and so chilled. The vibe of this song is great!

I hope that some, if not all of these songs make it to your playlist! Let me know if you like any of the songs and I might do a part 2 with 5 more songs! =)

Jay Park – First London concert

It is not often that I write a blog post straight after an event, but this is a must.

I am writing this as I sit on a 27 bus heading home after a long day of waiting to see Jay Park. All I can think of is how amazing Jay was and how much my feet hurt.

Jay turned to Twitter in the early hours of the 21st of September & mentioned that he has been ill for a few days now. I was worried that he would strain himself & not be able to perform well, but nope.

Jay was amazing! He only had one hitch up with his voice but his performance was out standing.

I’m not the biggest K-Pop fan & I guess that is why I like Jay’s music because it’s more western. From singing; to rapping; to dancing; and even taking off his shirt after I shouted it to him about 10 times, this concert was one that I probably won’t forget.

The opening act called Victor, who are a boy band which I have never heard of before were cute. They were great dancers and although you could tell they are new to the game, their excitement and eagerness showed during their performance. The Twins (both wearing hats in the picture below), although I am usually scared of twins, were outstanding dancers, so much so that I didn’t get freaked out by their resemblance. Amazing dancers.

Although the concert was short, only lasting two hours with a 30 minute interval, I enjoyed my time and am glad that Jay came to London.

Unfortunately there was not an encore, probably due to lack of enthusiasm from the audience & the fact Jay is not well.

One thing I would like to mention is that this is Invazi’s first event in London and although I am glad they made it possible for Jay to come here, it seemed a bit un-organized and you could tell it was set up by people who are new to event management.

Ways to improve would be to add one more supporting act to make the concert longer and don’t organise an after party event right after the concert. Also, Invazi were not clear on information about meet & greet winners. It would have been good to have the winners announced on the website and state if winners had to pay to go to the after party for the meet & greet.

Also while I’m at it, if I was the organiser of the after party I would make it 21+ event!

Regardless though, Jay did an amazing job and I am glad I finally got to see him perform!

Excellent performer!

I’ll definitely pay to see you again Jay! Next time will be in Korea =P

Writers Block.

Just 5 weeks left until my dissertation is due and I have been suffering from writers block for more than a week. Before then it was just sheer laziness but now I want to write but my mind goes blank.

writers-block

My dissertation topic is so under-researched so I have to do three-four different fields of research. Popular culture, Fandom, Identity & Adoption. Identity among adopted people is such a sensitive subject that many people are scared to research into it.

Stupidly, in my mind I thought it was a good idea to have a unique dissertation title so it would be different. I failed to realise that in doing so it will make my dissertation so much harder to do!

Along with the pain of research, I have to do five interviews that should last between 30 minutes and an hour and a half. Also the people who I have to interview are hard to find in London.

(If there are any adopted Koreans living in London, please contact me! You will be saving my life! Even if you don’t live in London, Skype can connect us so get in touch please!)

But I know all this hard work will pay off. Once the cloud above my head has passed and I manage to start writing, I am confident that I will do well. If this dissertation goes the way I have planned, it will be a success. Not only for the grade I will get and how it will impact my degree, but as an under-researched topic. Having something I can call my own and have published is my dream.

G-Dragon – 1st World Tour!

Only two days after the finale of the Big Bang Alive Tour, G-Dragon tweets about his 1st solo world tour!!!!

Although G-Dragon only tweeted a picture of a poster for his solo tour, which is titled simply titled ‘1st World Tour’, excitement is in the air!

gdragonsolotour

I really hope he comes to London as although most artists state they are doing a world tour, the tend to leave us Brits out of the equation!  But I a hopeful since Big Bang came to London for the Alive tour and G-Dragon returned for a few days last week.

Now, the wait for dates begins!

I just hope ticket prices aren’t as crazy as the Alive Tour was! =P
