Prepare for Kitty! Part 2

Please read Prepare for Kitty! Before this one!

Roari at 8 weeks!

The most important thing to do as soon as you get Kitty, is to take them to the vet. You can’t get he or she neutered or spayed until it is 5-6 months old but they need injections. Even if they are a home Kitty like Roari. So PLEASE!!! Take your Kitten to a vet!!! The price for injections are worth it because trust me, you don’t want a sick kitty. =[

(I will make a separate post on Neutering and Spaying at a later date)

So part two is going to go over things you should do with Kitty before it gets old.

I think the most important is to teach him or her its name!

The way I did this, was to say Roari’s name every time he looked at me, every time I gave him food, every time I stroked him, every time he came to sleep, every time possible! But make sure that you only call him or her by their name. No nicknames until they reply to their name!

Second important thing would be, for me, get them used to showering!

I know people say cats don’t like water, but if you wash your cat from when they are young they will get used to it. There is proof of this on YouTube. I wish that I could say Roari likes water, but I failed at this part when he was a baby!

Now, you have to be really careful. Please watch YouTube tutorials that actually show a cat! The temperature of the water must be Luke-warm. It has to be the temperature where you can’t say it’s cold or hot. Just feel water not a temperature! You also have to make sure that you never get water on the cats head or in their face. And please get Kitten shampoo for your vet or pet shop.

Also remember that Cats are naturally clean animals and they do not need to be washed as much as Dogs do. I’d say once every 6 months is fine. But I think it is also important to get a Kitten used to it so that if it gets really dirty it is not hard for you to wash it.

Third, when they climb on surfaces that you don’t want them to go on or on the curtain, they need to know this is wrong.

Now don’t shout at them or hit them. That doesn’t work with kids let alone animals that don’t know English! It took me a while and a lot of effort to get Roari to stop climbing on the curtains. But now he never does it.

What you must do is, as soon as they go onto the curtain/surface, pick them up gently, look at them, and say No. In a firm tone, but do NOT shout. When they realise that you always take them off the curtain/surface, they will hesitate a little bit before climbing up, when they get to this stage, simply say No. before they actually climb on to the curtain/surface. If you do this every time, they will get the message!

Many websites I have read suggest spraying your kitten with water. I disagree, I think that is horrible. Would you like it if someone sprayed water in your face?! They don’t understand that what they are doing is wrong. The one time my sister did this, Roari didn’t even care! He loves water! (But not showers -_-)

There are alternatives. Spraying the curtain with a spray you can get from pet shops that apparently stops your cat/dog from going to that surface that has been sprayed, but it stinks!! I got it when we first got Roari, and he hated it at first, but so did we. The smell was horrid and once it faded he was on the curtains again anyway!

You can also try a citrus air freshener or surface cleaner. This works better than that horrid spray!

Please, play with your kitty! When they are young they are the cutest!! And in a couple of months they will turn their tiny nose up at a toy and sleep for 20 hours a day! So enjoy it while it lasts!

Part 3 will be about Neutering and Spaying your cat. This will be up at a later date.

Prepare for Kitty!

For those of you who don’t know, I have a big fluff-ball of a cat called Roari! I got him when he was 8 weeks old and he was so small that he could sit in one of my hands! (and I have small hands!)

My friend (one of my closest) got a Kitten today and my gosh she is cute!!!

But anyway, I thought I would make a blog post on what things to buy and what to do when you get a Kitten! Why you ask? Because I wish somebody had written a blog post for me when I first got Roari! I was a wreck in the first month of being a new Mummy!

So first, What to buy:

A cage (to take it to the vets in);
A bed;
A Blanket;
A Litter Tray;
Food (Kitten food);
Dish/Bowl;
Litter;
Scratching Post;
Toy;
Brush/comb.

When I got Roari, I was lucky enough to have found an offer. In this offer I got the cage, litter tray, bed and scratching post in one. I got it for about £15.00 from Argos. I dunno if they still do this offer but it was so handy!

I then went to the supermarket and got a massive bag of dry kitten food. I started Roari off on Whiskers, because that is what his previous owners were feeding him. It’s important to ask the people who you got the kitten from about what they were feeding the kitten. I didn’t give Roari wet food until he was bout 5 months because I wanted him to get strong teeth (although they were already freaking sharp!). Oh and please make sure it is Kitten food because they need more nutrients than what is in the regular cat food.

I also bought a massive bag of Litter at the super market. And two bowls, one for water, one for food. I also made sure that I bought him a little ‘welcome to your new home’ toy.

I also bought Roari several brushes/combs. You will only need one if you don’t make the same mistake that I did! I didn’t want to brush Roari when he was a baby because he was so cute with his static fur!! But it is important that you start when they are young. I would say around 3 months old. Otherwise they will not get used to it!

So that is the basics. You then need:

Double sided tape

I know you are thinking what the hell?!

When Roari was tiny, he liked to chew wires. I would rap the wires in double sided tape. He hated this and learnt very fast that the wires were not something to play with! They will stay clear of anything with tape on it!

I think, this is all the materialistic things that you need.

This post is a bit long so I’m going to start a second one on things to do with your kitten to take care of them and your house!

Stay Tuned!!

Love

I knew that I would have fun in Korea, but I did not think that I would fall in love. You know when you get the feeling that something is right and you fit together perfectly, even though you have differences, such as skin colour and the language barrier? When you see something so beautiful and you have so much respect for it because all you are shown is respect, even though I am alien.

I don’t care about the people who stare and I barely notice them because I am in awe. There is that sudden moment when I am in bed and think ‘damn, this is actually happening’. I feel like we were meant to be and there is nothing that can get in the way.

You ask how I can be in love when I’ve only been in Korea for one week. Well, you fall in love when you least expect it. I know that it sounds like a fairy tale but love at first sight is the only way to describe it. I do not know if the love is returned but I will find out by being patient.

I am in love with Korea.

A night with Passion. Pt. 2

Hello! It’s been a while! I’ve been too busy!! =[

However, with the stress of uni deadlines and work, I managed to go to see the awesome and super talented Jeremy Passion.

If you have not read The Empty Suitcase Project and A night with Passion, please read both of them!

As my ‘A night with Passion’ post mentioned, Jeremy Passion was in Europe doing a tour, ‘the little tour that could’. London was lucky enough to have Jeremy perform twice in one month!

The first show was amazing. I enjoyed myself so much and Jeremy was such a gentleman. I really didn’t know how he was going to come back at then end of the month and top himself.

The difference in venues was amazing. Although the La Berrique was an amazing venue for an intimate show, Coronet Cinema was a truly amazing and breathe taking venue. Although it was a larger venue, the show was still very intimate, perfect for Jeremy’s last leg of the little tour that could.

Putting the venue aside, Jeremy definitely topped himself. He managed to perform some of the same songs he did in the first show, but bettered them and made them sound different without changing the song. The band that were assisting Jeremy were amazing. Although it was very hard for everyone to keep their eyes of the too-handsome Jeremy, the band did not just blend in to the background.

The only similarity between the 31st of March and the 29th of April shows was that they were both inspirational and emotional.

Jeremy performed ‘Stephanie’, a song he wrote for a girl he met after a show who suffered from Lupus. Jeremy was touched by her story and wrote a song for her. When he performed ‘Stephanie’, the whole crowd fell silent. It was the most moving performance I have ever seen. I believe that even if that was the first performance you saw of Jeremy, you would fall in love with his music. In my opinion, the song showcases his talent of song writing like no other song.

Jeremy also made me go weak at the knees when he looked at me while singing a line from Lemonade. Jeremy, if you read this, I don’t know if you did it intentionally but you looked at me at both shows, while singing the same line, you made me feel like a crazy fan-girl! It’s not good! =P (You know I enjoyed it though!)

Bluey Robinson also put on an amazing set. It was the first time I heard of Bluey, and he made me want to hear more of him! Esmée Denters also made a brief appearance!

Jeremy also stayed behind after the show once again. I can speak for everybody when I say, we appreciated that!

Altogether, an amazing show.

I mentioned in my previous post, A night with Passion, that I would be interviewing Jeremy. Unfortunately, with his busy schedule, it was not possible for me to interview him. However, although I did want to interview him face to face, since there is something special about that, I know there are other ways of interviewing him. Also, although I was a little upset, I am now more inspired and motivated to get more into the role of a Journalist! I have always dreamed of going to America after I finish uni, and by watching amazing artists such as Jeremy, AJ Rafael, Victor Kim and JR Aquino, to name a few, I am more determined to move to America and become a Journalist! So I can interview the people who inspire me!

So Jeremy, when I come to the states, I will interview you! Whether you like it or not! =P

I forgot to tell you face to face how much you actually inspire me to make a difference, through what I have a passion for (Since I don’t have a good singing voice!).

To sum it all up, Jeremy is a huge inspiration and he definitely put on a great show, twice in London, on The Little Tour That Did.
