Re-Inspired

This is a blog post which I wrote a year ago on my tumblr. I felt re-inspired again when I read it so thought I’d post it here.

Today, I read an interview that I came across a while back. It’s been a while since I have been this inspired. Ryan Feng, I give thanks to you for being amazing. So the interview I read was on The Other Asians by Julie Zhan. Although I had skimmed through the interview, I am happy I came across it again.I recently made a post called Losing Faith , which was about me not being happy with Quest any-more. I now realise that I wrote that post when I was upset. Now I have stopped and decided to look at my opinion in a different light. And Feng made me remember why I love Quest.

Feng speaks about how the crew work together and how they hate each other but in a brotherly way:

‘But it worked out for us because we hated each other in a loving way.Like I can hate on my crew, but no one else can. I got their backs andwe love each other.’

But, Feng also inspired me in other ways than just re-finding my love for Quest. He speaks about who he is. This has inspired me to embrace myself and not care so much about what others are like.

‘Be who you are, and let that be the definition. It’s like being in love. What does that mean to me? What does that mean to you? It’s differentfor everyone, but there’s only one word for it.’

Everyone is different.

Feng thank you for making me realise that you can pursue more than one career. Although you said yourself you aren’t a a photographer or a writer, you made me realise that If I want, I can be creative in more than one way, like artists.

‘What I can express in dancing won’t come out in writing. But what I canwrite can’t be expressed in dancing. What I photograph can depict whatwriting can’t, etc, etc. Those are my three main avenues that I feelcomfortable expressing myself in. Will I become a photographer orwriter, I don’t know.’

I am going to confess that I dance in my room! haha. It’s embarrassing but, oh well! And although I don’t see myself becoming a dancer, your words of wisdom to aspiring dancers, has inspired me to get serious about what I love to do and what I want to be part of my life.

‘If you want to dance and you want dance to be a part of your life, justdo it. You don’t have to book a job or have other people tell you you’regood to be a dancer. But if you want to book jobs, go out of your comfort zone and learn everything. Get used to people telling you you’re not good.’

So, thanks for inspiring me again Feng!

Oh and congrats on making it to Europe with Quest! It wasn’t the whole of Quest, but I enjoyed watching you perform with LMFAO and I think I was screaming more for Quest than LMFAO! =P Although I didn’t actually get to meet you guys, it was an amazing experience to see you perform!

Hope to see you in London again!!
